Chatter Post, Friday May Week 2!
Hello there, mes amis!

The week one poll will be open until 9pm EST tonight!

Contestants and Just for Fun writers, your week two topic is here!

Editors, your awaits you!

I've had a rotten week at work, which thankfully is over, but it's hard to shake what has happened.

The short version is that my new boss initially laid the blame for two significant oversights on me, until I explained the situation to her. On top of that, after doing my job reliably for four years, she has come along and told me there will be changes to the requirements of our administration assistants that she doesn't think I will be able to do. When I asked her what these changes would be, she told me this hadn't been decided yet. I explained to her that I am the best person to judge what my capabilities are, and that I would tell her if there was anything I thought I would struggle with based on the fact that I can't see.

All this has left me feeling quite low, and I have come home in tears a couple times this week.

It is the weekend now, though, and I'm determined to do things to make me feel good.

I'm going to make pea and ham soup for the first time, which I'm really looking forward to. Filling my home with delicious aromas always lifts my spirits.

I'm going to give my dog a much needed bath, then sit out in the sun while we have it and give her a good grooming while reading an audio book.

Then of course there is the housework, but even that I'm not going to mind as I need the distraction of hard work, and the satisfaction of having a clean house.

What do you do when you need cheering up?

I message you! Always cheers me up. I also enjoy looking at photos of you and me and my family and our friends together. I like to remember happy times...

I haven't seen you online in forever!

Looking at photos used to cheer me up a lot, too.

That reminds me, I still need to get someone to go through all the photos I took last year so I can upload some to FB!

I wish I could be in the States this summer, but since I won't be able to make it, we'll have to start planning for my next visit!

If you'd like, I can help you look through photos! =p it would be pretty tedious for you to email them a few at a time though, I'm guessing =p

I bite my husband's forehead.

I'm serious.

When we were dating, I was trying to quit smoking and was having quite a time of it. I got all worked up and didn't know what to do with myself, so I grabbed his face and 'bit' his forehead.

He was startled, but then thought it was hilarious. It's been a running joke ever since. Anytime he sees me upset or frustrated, he leans towards me and taps his forehead and I put my teeth on it. If he's not home, he'll send a photo of his forehead to my phone.

Makes me feel better every time.

I love it!

Just reading about that is enough to cheer someone up!

You two are such an awesome couple!

It depends on where I am and who I'm with. If I'm at home alone, I'm likely to hole up with the Internet and perhaps a book or two, maybe eat some comfort food. If someone else is home, it's snuggles for me. I also tease my cat because he's helpless when I tickle him!
Desert_Rosedesert_rose on May 12th, 2013 01:13 am (UTC)
I haven't had a cat who is ticklish!

I don't have a lot of success getting my cat worked up - he's the most placid cat I've ever owned, and his reactions to everything I've done have been ridiculously mild, even when I've bitten the tip of his tail.

Oh lord. He ASKS for it. He'll roll around and expose his tummy and I can't resist. He's so active and has such personality. He's got more personality than some humans I've met, lol.

My cat is quite happy to lie on his back, but loves his belly being rubbed the same way a dog does. He doesn't react, just lies there with his head back soaking up all the love.

My dog is miss personality plus around here.

Hugs to you.

When I need cheering up, I meet up with friends and we just talk or laugh about stuff. It's hard for me to feel miserable in company. A med school friend of mine periodically 'kidnaps' me and we escape the campus to scout food places and just hang out, discuss life, fandom, and the fact we are accidental med students.

If I'm alone, I get a cup of coffee and listen to some favorite show tunes, perhaps while reading some 'guilty pleasure' fanfiction.

*hugs* to you, too.

I love listening to music anytime, but when I really need some cheering up I play the silliest song I can find and sing along.

The joys of living alone! :-)

Have some chocolate and tea!!

I talk to friends and maybe listen to music when I need cheering up, or read a good book. =p it's a good time to catch up with everything!
Desert_Rosedesert_rose on May 12th, 2013 01:17 am (UTC)
You know all about me and my tea. :-) I'm trying to cut back on the chocolate and other sweet treats, though.
Aquarius Galuxyaquarius_galuxy on May 12th, 2013 05:18 am (UTC)
=p I figure that you could have a square or two of chocolate every so often! An alternate idea is to break them into smaller pieces so they last longer =p

Is there any tea you don't like, or do you like all teas? =p

I listen to music, or read something that will distract me. I try to get outside if I can and put it in perspective. If I can, I'll talk to someone about it. If it's at a bad time to talk to people (ie., late at night), I'll write about it -- just "stream of consciousness" stuff to get it out on the page.
Desert_Rosedesert_rose on May 12th, 2013 01:20 am (UTC)
I also write about how I'm feeling, which I did this time to help get it off my chest. I also ramble a lot when I need to vent in my writing, which may not have made any sense to anyone else, but it allowed me to put it all out there.
