Oh, hi!
September 2010 was the last time I wrote a chatter post (yes, I did have to look). I am so glad to be back amongst old and new friends, and to be posting chatter posts again!
There is only a little over an hour to vote in the June week 4 poll!
We has an editing post!
The week one topic awaits you!
Come join the friending frenzy!!!
Editors, we have some volunteer edits needing some TLC!
If you would like to be involved in ROAR and editing in July, please check out this post!
When I rejoined
brigits_flame, I took a peek at the members list, recognizing a lot of you, but also seeing lots of new members. So, for those of you I don't know, here's a quick summary of me:
I'm Marion, and I live in Australia with my soon to be full time pet dog Molly, and my cat Orion. That is the main thing you need to know about me. The rest, I'm sure, will be shared over time.
The reason I mention my pets, is that they are a very important part of my life.
Molly is my pet dog, but also my guide dog for another few days. (she is 10 and will be retiring as she is losing her vision)
Orion is my cat who came to live with me in May 2011 when he was found living in the basement of a deserted factory by one of my coworkers.
Both Molly and Orion have had a huge impact on my life, as well as the lives of my friends and family.
During every waking hour, Molly is my constant companion. She is either snoozing under my desk at work, sitting with her head in my lap getting her ears scratched or rolling around on the floor snorting and snuffling.
At night, Orion is my snuggle bunny. He loves nothing more than being as close to me as possible, preferably snuggled under the covers with my arms holding him close.
As this is Molly's last week at work with me, it has been brought home to me just how much she has come to mean to my coworkers.
Every day for the last four years she has had people come over just to give her a cuddle. For some it is because they like dogs, but for others it has been because they are having a stressful day and need the quiet affection only a pet can give.
Today, however, I really saw just how special Molly is to so many of my coworkers. One sent an e-mail to our entire department announcing Molly's retirement, and a day of food and fun in her honor. I wasn't aware he was going to do this, so am deeply touched by the gesture.
She has received treats, had her friends cry when they came to see her for the last time, and I have been told by many people that I MUST bring Molly back to see them.
Yes, it has been a very emotional day, but one I wouldn't trade for anything.
Orion, too, has made his place in the hearts of everyone he meets. My Dad in particular, who is staying with me while his house is being put back together after a flood, really enjoys Orion's company. As Dad is retired, he spends a lot of time at home, and having Orion there to keep him company brightens his day. They play games, he talks to him and when Dad is relaxing on the couch, Orion is right there to snuggle with him.
I could go on forever, but now it's your turn. :-)
Tell me about your pets, and the impact they have on your life and those around you!
